WELCOME to The Vine-Covered Oasis, our tropical 2/2 near-beach townhouse ("The Oasis", for short) in north St. Augustine/South Ponte Vedra Beach. To see more pictures go the owner's website, www.harpofhope.com, click on MENU, then "Florida Beach Rental" tab.

Our Management Team very carefully CLEANS and SANITIZES, going beyond the strictest Covid-19 guidelines, so you can feel safe in this beautiful townhouse. We will forward the Rental Application by email. We do require Rental Application and background check, which keeps everyone safe. We invoice through PayPal, where you can use a credit card without joining PayPal. We do negotiate rates based on length of stay, so please do not hesitate to inquire by phone or email.

We regret, we CANNOT RENT TO SMOKERS due to owner's extreme nicotine allergies. If you're as allergic to cigarettes/nicotine as I am, you now have a true "Oasis" of clean air where you can stay safely.

SCROLL DOWN FURTHER for detailed descriptions of The Oasis. In brief: 2 suites (one up, one down) with queen beds and adjacent bathrooms. Lovely private flowering tropical garden, lanai, and deck... enjoy beach walking, dolphin- and boat-watching on the bay, and ocean splashing in the uncrowded South Ponte Vedra Beach area in north St. Augustine. 2 convenient parking spaces just outside the front door.

PETS WELCOME if you inquire first. $125 fee for dog or cat. There is a standard $150 cleaning fee per stay. Our friendly Manager, Juan Mayoral, is always available to meet your needs or answer questions.

We are an ADULTS ONLY rental in this quiet, mature community. (We regret, our special furnishings, antiques, and fabrics are not "wet-bathing-suit-kid-friendly"! For children or teenagers, we recommend St. Augustine Beach's family-friendly condos with pools and outdoor sports for kids.)

LOVE GOLF? There's world-class golf at World Golf Village, and TPC Sawgrass Resort just up the road in Ponte Vedra. LOVE HISTORY? St. Augustine is a history-lovers' dream come true. New to the area? The owner, Diane Schneider, will guide you to all of the wonderful restaurants, museums, music, and fantastic water and wildlife venues you could ever want!

The Vine-Covered Oasis is on the quieter, more private North Island of St. Augustine, just north of Vilano Beach. We are 30+ minutes from Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, yet only 7-10 minutes from the heart of the St. Augustine antiques district. Guests say, "This is the perfect location for a relaxing beach stay, yet close to all that historic St. Augustine has to offer!"

THE BEACH:

LOVE the beach? The gorgeous Atlantic Ocean beach at South Ponte Vedra really is the best-kept secret in St. Augustine: no admission fees, never crowded, plenty of free parking, picnic shelter and showers... Beauty, peace, tranquility, and great dog-walking! a 7+ minute walk from our front door, or a 5-minute drive. The drive-to beach entry is usually our choice: free parking lot, and two covered shelters with picnic tables, washrooms, and showers to clean off that lovely sand that gets between your toes.

VILANO BEACH? We're 3-4 minutes from this charming little historic fishing village--with restaurants, fishing pier, and drive-on beach entry--just across the bridge from the antique district & downtown St. Augustine! ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH is on Anastasia Island, 20-30 traffic-filled minutes from our home, requires a $10 per day admission (or $100+ annual pass) and due to soft sand, may require 4-wheel drive at spots where cars are permitted at certain times.

THE ROOMS OF THE VINE-COVERED OASIS:

Now, for the interior of The Oasis. See our pictures, but they simply can't do justice to the ocean colours and the light and airy feel and space of this home. Contact me to visit any time for a walk-through.

First, the vine-covered entrance leads to a red oak and leaded glass door with an electronic keyless entry (no keys to lose, and you will receive the code before arrival). The entire townhouse has tile floors except the carpeted stairs to second floor. A guest with some mobility issues could use a walker or travel chair easily on the first floor, but we regret the bathrooms are not actually wheelchair accessible.

FIRST FLOOR: The Hemingway Suite has a lovely British West Indies tropical air: a Bernhardt pecan four-poster queen plantation bed with marble-top dressers and bedside tables, carved palm-leaf overhead fan with remote, specially chosen artwork on the walls, and vaulted ceilings for a spacious feel. There is a large closet and, a few steps away, the bathroom features a travertine walk-in shower instead of tub. There is a lockable door on the hallway outside these rooms, for complete privacy.

SECOND FLOOR: The Ocean Suite, in soft shades of green, is beachy and a bit whimsical. It features a pickled-pine spindle queen sleigh bed, overhead fan, and wicker/rattan furniture. On one end of the room, there's a comfortable conversation area where you can read or relax on the tropical print sofa (queen-size sleeper sofa) or the cozy papasan chair, with a wicker coffee table. The adjoining bathroom is light and airy, with travertine marble floors, 3 large closets, and a rare and delightful skylight over the tub and shower. There is an assist bar on the tub for easy access. This suite also has a locking door at the entrance for privacy.

FIRST FLOOR DINING ROOM seats 4 around a beautiful glass-and-rattan vintage island table. LIVING ROOM has vaulted ceilings with comfortable sofa (pulls out to additional bed), 50" inch Roku-enabled television with cable (bring your Netflix code!), and ocean-themed artwork. Two wonderful matching tropical Lane Venture recliners flank the sofa--you will love them!

Sliding doors lead onto the private GLASS and SCREENED LANAI where a vintage table and chair set for 2 can be a cozy breakfast spot, viewing on the banana plants and greenery of the deck and backyard. (A storage room on the lanai contains beach chairs, etc.) The KITCHEN has granite counters, Whirlpool stainless steel appliances, and many helpful small appliances (including an InstantPot, large Foreman grill, 12-cup coffee maker, blender, and so on). A variety of dishes in ceramic, Corelle, and melamine, will meet your preference.

Just off the kitchen is a LAUNDRY ROOM with plenty of storage, more appliances, baking items and Pyrex storage bowls, and a large top-of-the-line Maytag washer and dryer set.

THE OWNER:

I'm Dr. Diane Schneider. I was a theology professor before I "jumped ship" to do research and serve patients at Mayo Clinic hospitals for 9 years. I am a professional harpist. I also do therapeutic work in psychiatric hospitals and prisons. I fell in love with St. Augustine, and lived here in the Vine-Covered Oasis full-time for 7 years. Still love living here part-time, and I try to meet as many of my guests as possible! I enjoyed decorating my home with beach-themed oil paintings, watercolours, and some tropical-style antiques, that might remind you of a beautiful Key West-style island retreat.

I decided to open up my home to long-term stays for adults who are looking for a clean, quiet place to relax and renew themselves in peace--people who really love beauty, long walks and sunrises on the beach, sunsets on the Vilano Beach pier. I'm an animal lover, so of course, beloved small dogs and cats are welcome, too (there's even a small pet door from the lanai). After a walk on the beach, my favourite spot is our 'secret garden' tropical backyard--where you can nap under the magnolia tree, or have a late dinner outside on the deck, all in complete privacy.

The House Manager team of Zoraida and Juan Mayoral are very welcoming, and will be a phone call away for any questions or needs relating to the home; they are both English- and Spanish-speaking.

TO SOOTHE, HEAL, AND REVIVE:

Dr. Diane says, "Life is jam-packed and stressful. My hope is to open my home to adults who come in exhausted and drained from carrying many burdens. May my townhouse be a real oasis to you, a time of peace, and I hope that you leave feeling refreshed, blessed, and much healthier and happier than when you arrived."

Additional Boating Information:

Ahoy! We are located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. So, boating and fishing are available at numerous locations just a few minutes' drive from our townhouse. Please discuss with owner at 859-919-0082. One of these is a beautiful place for hiking, fishing, and boating, the Guana Tolomato Reserve. See it here: https://gtmnerr.org/

The front bedroom views on a small garden of beautiful red blooming hibiscus trees. 2nd floor bedroom has an overview of the front greenery and flowers. The glass & screen lanai at rear of townhouse views on a private tropical yard and garden area. A wonderful magnolia tree spreads its branches, creating a shady spot under its canopy. Flowering bougainvillea, fig trees (you can pick and eat the figs in season!), azalea, banana trees, holly, and a wide variety of tropical greenery creates a peaceful garden for relaxing in the swing or on a recliner under the trees. And for an ocean view--the beach is just a 5-minute walk away!
